UPDATE April 2021 —- My New Book is Called…

There’s an update to this post in April 2021.

….A Curious Absence of Chickens

I wrote my last book (Spices) almost a decade ago and then decided that I had really said all I had to say about food and cooking, much of that several times over. Quarter of a century of writing ‘inspiring’ thoughts about strawberries in June and what to do with leftovers after Christmas is quite enough. Moving to Puglia has emphatically revitalised my interest in writing about food. I have learnt so much in the past 18 months, despite the limitations of Covid lockdown and I long to pass it on to those who are interested.

I’m delighted to say that I have just finished writing my first book about living and cooking and eating in Italy’s heel. Puglia is blessed with a keen food culture, wonderful ingredients and so many great home cooks. Even so it took a while to get my writing muscles back in order, not least because I’m a champion procrastinator. Now the manuscript is with the publisher, being primped and trimmed and cossetted into presentable form.

Just in case you’re wondering about the title, wonder on. It’s all explained in the book, so you’ll have to buy or borrow a copy to find out. Sorry! Not long to wait though - it will be published in late spring/early summer 2021 by Headline.

We will have copies for sale throughout the summer. RRP is £20 but for you we can definitely do a deal and you get a signature into the bargain.
